Vaccination abroad: The recognition process for people over 60

Greeks over 60 who reside abroad permanently and have a vaccination certificate which cannot be electronically verified will be able to register their vaccination certificate or doses which were administered abroad electronically.

The process is very simple and can be completed:

  • either via the service for the “Registration of vaccine doses administered outside Greece”
  • or via myKEPlive

These services are offered to citizens who fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • they are permanent residents abroad
  • they were born on or before 31-12-1961
  • they are not registered with the Public Revenue Agency for non-Residents and
  • they have a vaccination certificate/ attestation from a country which is not a member of the European Digital COVID Certificate.

It should be noted that by completing one of the two processes which are described below, citizens over 60 are considered vaccinated (therefore do not have to pay a fine), but they do not acquire the right to issue a vaccination attestation or certificate in Greece.

“Registration of vaccine doses administered outside Greece”

This is the new service created by the Ministries of Digital Governance and Health, with the contribution of the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology (ΕΔΥΤΕ ΑΕ – GRNET), which is supervised by the Ministry of Digital Governance. The citizens’ information is drawn from the Interoperability Center of the General Secretariat for Public Administration Information Systems.

The TAXISnet codes are used to log in to the service. Then, the concerned party enters his Social Insurance Number (AMKA) or PAKMA and uploads his vaccination certificate or attestation. The process is completed with the verification of the documents at a later time.

myKEPlive

This service was designed, developed and productively supported by the General Secretariat for Public Administration Information Systems.

The process has the same steps as any other service provided via MyKEPlive. The only difference is that the required documentation for the proof of vaccination must be sent prior to the scheduled videocall. The documentation may be:

  • either a certificate in any language with a solemn declaration
  • or a vaccination attestation in Greek or English.

At the time and date of the appointment, the concerned person is connected to the videocall via the link which was sent and shows the Citizens’ Affairs Center clerk an identification document (his/her identity card or passport). After the identification process, the clerk examines the documentation which was sent by the concerned party via email and registers it in the Records of Vaccinated Greeks living abroad.

It should be noted that this service may be used by any citizen even if they do not have personal Taxisnet codes. In this case, a third party, relative or friend, who has Taxisnet codes can schedule the appointment.

Greek citizens who are not registered with the Public Revenue Agency for non-Residents and were vaccinated in a country which is a member of European Digital COVID Certificate may register their vaccination doses at anagnorisi.emvolio.gov.gr.
